The time is finally here to reveal my Master Bedroom update! If you are new to the blog, you can find a before photo HERE. I’m so excited to share the final product with you today and tips on how I saved money while creating this space!
The bed is truly the show stopper in this space, isn’t it beautiful?! When we built our home almost two yrs ago, I really wanted an upholstered bed. My husband didn’t see any reason why we needed to change our room when we had a perfectly good bed (can any of you relate?) I struggled to design the space around our heavy, dark bed, knowing the vision I had in my head was alot different. In the mean time, I posted a photo of my room on Instagram and it was somehow picked up by Kate of The_real_houses_of_instagram and it was extremely popular (even breaking her record likes at one point) I have to admit, the popularity of my room made me second guess getting an upholstered bed. I mean, who doesn’t have one anymore? Maybe I needed to be different. Nah, my heart was still set.
I’m so happy I had to wait because Bernhardt came out with the Marquesa bed and it’s the bed of my dreams! I worked with Thomasville of Utah to order my bed, they have been wonderful to work with on all of my projects.
The bed was my “splurge” in the space, so I searched for budget friendly items to accessorize the room. The marquesa nightstands are stunning, I would have loved to order them with my bed alas, my budget didn’t allow me to have them at this time.
I looked for a less expensive option and found this nightstand at At Home, the quality and style are definitely not what it would be with a Bernhardt piece, but it still compliments the bed nicely. I added crystal knobs and it helped to bring the piece up a notch.
You can find similar options in the slider below
The lamps were from Pier One imports and are no longer available but you can find a similar one HERE and HERE. I found the Martha Stewart mirrors on clearance for $20 each while we were building and bought all of them, I knew if I didn’t use them, I’d be able to use them for a client.
I found the rug HERE, you can also find more affordable rugs in my ten Fabulous and affordable rugs HERE.
The Art from Minted in gray and blush hues is such a calming statement piece that’s perfect for the space. I love minted art, I have ordered from them for several projects and the never disappoint! You can find the art HERE
The benches are also an At Home find, the scale was not quite right to use one for my king bed so I used two. This was probably one of my most exciting finds due to the fact that similar designer benches run between $1,500 to $2,000 the benches I found were only $129 each score! You can find similar benches HERE and HERE, or if you’d rather have designer pieces, you can find some HERE, HERE, and HERE.
I still have a few more projects planned, we are planning on adding sliding doors to our bathroom entrance.
and I’m on the lookout for art to hang on either side of our fireplace
But I couldn’t be happier with how it has turned out so far! You can find more photos, and product links below. If you’d like to keep up on upcoming projects, sign up for my newsletter in the sidebar.

Did you order the bed as sampled on their website? The wood looks a bit more tan than grey in these pics.
Ann Marie, sorry if I give you double responses I tried once already but I don’t think it posted. Yes I ordered as it’s shown on the site. I held off ordering anything else for the room until I saw it in person. I was thrilled when it came, it’s more beautiful in person! The wood is a gray stained wood so it’s not fully gray but has gray tones.
Thank you Marta, the paint color in my room is Sherwin Williams MindFull gray. Congrats on your new bed!
